Evaluation of my work

Here is some screenshots of our work

First we looked at several quality websites to help think of a design. One of the best websites we looked at was Wikipedia because it had a very good layout and it was very well organized.Next,we began planning our design and drew it all on paper. We included a variety of designs in our plan including videos slideshows and pictures. We also included a black theme to our website. After we collected all the information and pictures,we began creating our website. We created our first page and wrote an introduction to our website and mentioned it's general idea.We included a video explaining what cyclones were and a main idea about them,we also placed a photo to illustrate our page. After that,in our second page we copied all the information we gathered in google docs and put it in a 4-page slideshow showing how a cyclone is formed second page,it was titled how cyclones are formed. We had problems uploading our slideshow so we converted it into pictures using Microsoft Powerpoint Mac and converted them into a small movie using Windows Movie Maker. In our third page, where cyclones are formed,we also put the information we gathered and placed it on the page, this time we put a picture showing where cyclones might occur. In our fourth page,we created a table showing the seasons or periods of time cyclones might occur. In our fifth and final page,we made a small bibliography showing the websites we used to get all the information, pictures and videos,we also put a copyright sign for no one to copy any of our work.I thought using Iweb was easy but, after we researched,we found out that there are a few other web designing programs that are better or more advanced, such as Microsoft Frontpage,Adobe Dreamweaver and much more. There were also a few websites that created free websites and published them some of these were Google Sites,Piczo,FreeWeb and lots of others.

Communication During a Natural Disaster

Communications

Communication is very important during a natural disaster because it is probably the only way to be rescued or saved. There are many different forms of communication, such as mobile phone or telephone which is used to call for help or rescue.Internet is also a form of communication which can be used to send e-mails or inform someone for help or rescue.Satellite phone is also a vital form of communication and is mostly used during emergencies.During Hurricane Katrina,a satellite phone was used,by the army,to rescue some people from the devastating disaster. While communicating you need to give some kind of information to whoever is going to answer you. That information would probably be where you are or what problem is happening. If this information is not given, you would probably suffer without anyone trying to help you. Before communicating you need to know to what you are going to say,so that you will not waste time thinking what to say. While communicating you can say that there is a disaster or emergency and you can say that you need immediate help and you also have to say where you are for whoever it is you are communicating to.The hardware or software needed to establish a communication is important. This hardware or software might be an internet connection or a labtop or it might even be a cell phone.Without this type of hardware or software it will be almost impossible to communicating with anyone.
